April is a time for new beginnings and new growth. Join us and learn about the many characteristics of trees and plants as they begin a new growing season. Bob Bowles will lead us in the identification of trees by the colour and structure of the bark, shape and colour of leaf scars, shape and features of winter buds which will soon open into leaves and flowers.
We’ll also learn how important trees are in controlling and abating the effects of climate change. We’ll learn how trees contribute to the ecosystem in carbon storage, flood prevention, producing light showers and emitting chemicals that are beneficial to human health and well-being. Participants will learn how trees communicate with other trees through mushrooms and how it is so important to healthy ecosystems to protect trees and their diversity.
