About Fado:
Fado, a traditional Portuguese music genre born in 19th-century Lisbon, derives its name from the Portuguese word for “fate” or “destiny.” Capturing the essence of saudade, fado is usually performed by a solo singer, known as a fadista, accompanied by the evocative tones of a Portuguese guitar and classical guitar. This emotive musical style delves into themes of love, loss, and the challenges of everyday life, weaving heartfelt vocals and soulful melodies that resonate with its listeners, creating a poignant and intimate connection.
Our Fado Night promises an enchanting performance by the esteemed fadista Tony Gouveia, whose soulful renditions will be accompanied by the mesmerizing melodies of Hernani Raposo on Portuguese guitar and the skilled notes of Pedro Joel on classical guitar.
